I grew up hating and fearing the city. As I have grown, so has my love for being in the city. I am not saying Sacramento is superior to other cities, but this city is mine, and it will forever have a special place in my heart. In Sacramento, I danced the night away, drank delicious lattes, started my divorce process, had a wild girls’ night, went to the park with my kiddos, took myself on solo dates, laughed with new friends, and fell in love with not only this city but myself along the way. I guarantee our major cities are similar: active nightlife, a booming coffee shop scene, stunning museums, beautiful live music, darling farmers’ markets, electric sporting events, and hundreds of local restaurants you haven’t tried yet. I believe that there are a million and one reasons to fall in love with your city. If you do not live in a major city, I highly recommend you go and explore one. Even if you think you prefer the suburbs or a rural area, getting out of your environment teaches you a lot and gives you a different perspective on life. Get lost, buy expensive coffee or a cocktail, meet new friends, try something new; you will thank me later.
